A Formalism Approach to “Titanic”
[ send me this paper ]
This 5 page report
discusses the movie “Titanic” and interprets its major themes
from the formalism approach. Literary formalism virtually
always encompasses stories of epic proportions and certainly
the story of Jack and Rose, situated against the background of
one of the modern world’s most dramatic disasters, serves as
an example of such. From the perspective of formalism, it is
important to interpret James Cameron’s blockbuster movie
“Titanic” as an exercise in both symbology for great passion
and romance, as well as an understanding of the hero’s (or
heroine’s) epic journey in self-discovery and personal
awareness and understanding of the world in which he or she
exists. Bibliography lists 2 sources.
